What's with these two omnipotent entities?

They pop-up everywhere.

Either Windows can't open them, or they are void of anything - empty - 0 Bytes.

But when you try to delete any of them, even the 'dead' ones, Windows slaps you and says, "NO-NO" - leave that alone.

I just hate looking at the contents of a folder and seeing nice colorful icons, and then having to, also, look at what appears to be an empty crysallis.

They bug me, and I wish there were a remedy to get rid of them. They do get in your way. When you're scrolling and looking for stuff. Annoying.

Doesn't seem like they're all that important.

Someone, PLEASE!

HELP! Mad

Chip:

ntuser.dat contains registry info for each user on your PC--that would be you.

Don't monkey with it. If you just don't want to ever lay eyes on it again, do this:

Open explorer and go to Tools/Folder Options...
Select the View tab and check the following options...

Do not show hidden files and folders

Hide Protected operating system files(recommended)

That makes a lot of stuff you shouldn't be fiddlin' with remain out of sight.

Thanks Mitch,

That clears it up. I always kept 'show hidden files' checked-off, because although I wasn't sure what they were, I feared I might be missing something I should be aware of.

Now I know. It will be a pleasure to hide those.

Thanks again, Mitch. Smile
