my new Simmons arrived today

this is the most under rated under priced steel on the market today
i didn't even have to tune it ( maybe just a tiny bit on 3rd string) the pedal action is perfect the knees smooth as silk

Is that the "Mother of Pearl" finish that was so popular with the early lap Steels (Oahu's, Dickerson's). Looks like a beautiful Guitar.

Now you're going to have to change your profile, to reflect your current guitar in your signature.

i really don't know , i never got into changers much, as long as they worked i was always happy
i know its something i should know more about
i can say that the strings return to pitch
and the guitar has a very smooth action on everything

yesterday was the 1st time i have ever called a man and told him that he did not charge enough for a guitar ...
that should tell you how pleased i am with this one

Calvin, It sure looks like you got yourself a winner here. I am really curious now. You say it is a great guitar with killer action and tone. You make comparison to Mullen which is a well-known tone monster.
We need to know more about this beauty. Would you please post some clear pics of the underside? Especially the changer. Maybe a few details like pedal/knee lever stops. Simmons was around way back in the 70's...am I correct about that?

Brent

as you can see i'm not very good with a camera but i will try to take some of the underside as soon as i get off the computer ,
while talking to Bob Simmons i asked him how long he had been building steel guitars, he told me that he built his 1st steel in 1967

and please don't misunderstand me, i still love mullen guitars and in no way am i putting them down

as promised the underside

let me just add this :

the pedals and knee's take very little pressure to engage, just enough to give a good feel to them
and all the knees have the same feel to them , meaning that one is not any harder feeling than the other
...maybe this is why i like it so much ?

That sure looks like a pull/release (single-piece finger) changer.
