Does anyone have a mp3 copy of this song? I have searched all over the net and cannot find it. If you do have it, can you post it or e-mail the copy to me? Thank you,,

Can't help with the Greene or Price cuts, but if you'd like to hear a nice instrumental version of the tune by Buddy Emmons, pick up the "Swinging by Request" album. I think it's available from the forum. Look under CD's and tapes links.

A GREAT, Great song...............

Post by Ray Montee »

For that RAY PRICE 'sound'......a truly great vocal, I'd recommend you look for is CURTIS POTTER's CD. Gary Carpenter, I believe, is the fabulous steel man on the CD.

I think this is the one you're looking for.

Austin,

I believe Billy Phelps has it on one of his CD's. He certainly has a track which might interest it.

I saw you in passing yesterday and am sorry we didn't get to speak. I was pretty busy most of the day. See you next time!

Austin, There is a version of "April's Fool" on a recording by Steve Palousek and Randy Cornor called "The Way We Wanted It." I bought it from Scotty's catalogue. It is an instrumental, as is most of this collection. These two guys are on the heavy-weight musician short list if you know what I mean. You'll probably have to buy a CD of Ray Price's hits to get the vocal version. Steve Palousek needs no introduction. Randy Cornor is a guitar player who played all that outrageous stuff back in 1974 with Frenchie Burke. It's the album with "Big Mamou" on it. It's almost impossible to find. Have fun, JFC

Another very nice instrumental version (I really like the one on Buddy E. and Ray Pennington's "Swingin' By Request", mentioned earlier) is on the Bobbe Seymour and Jimmy Day "Masters Collection" album.

April's Fool

Austin,
Ray Montee is on the money. Curtis Potter sings "April's Fool" on a CD with 'Carp' pickin' some awesome (as usual) steel. If you're familiar with Mr. Potter, I don't have to tell you how great the singing is.

Email me at: suchan@physics.utexas.edu and I'll return an m4a file (I'm Mac user) of the song.

Keep on pickin'!

So, who was playing the steel on Jack Greene's version and what year is it from? Jernigan, Charleton, Big E, Ron Elliott??

I thought I would add that I recorded this last summer on my latest album called "Coming Back". I also have it tabbed out and a rhythm track CD available.

Also, I may be wrong, but I think Jimmy Day played on Ray Price's original version. The Curtis Potter CD with Gary Carpenter is also great. Curtis also recorded a version years ago and I think Jimmy Day was on it.

Another very good version of it is by Ray Harrison on his CD "Scratchin the Surface" With John Hughey on steel. All of the others mentioned are great also.
