Here is the latest on the Jazz gig by Doug Jernigan in April in Columbia, Missouri. It has been changed from Saturday, April 6, to Sunday, April 7th. Doug will be performing an all jazz show and will be backed by the Tom Andes Trio. The show will start at 3:00 PM and go till at least 6:00 PM. The location is Murry's, Columbia's "premier" jazz club, located at 3107 Green Meadows Way. There will be a cover charge of $7.00 per person. The bar will be open, but no food will be served. This is a very nice club and seats approximately 150 people. If you have questions, please e-mail me. Dan

That would make a great live recording. Someone in contact with Doug should see if this could happen.

Darvin; normally I would totally agree with you, but I think Doug might have reservations about a live recording under these circumstances because he won't have an opportunity to do much rehearsal with the band before the gig. These guys are great musicians and I know this is going to be a fantastic event, but Doug would probably be more comfortable with a few days rehearsal if he knows it is going to be recorded for posterity. On the other hand, I could be blowing smoke out my *&%$, so I will try and remember to ask Doug about this. :0)
I can tell you that some of Scotty's people have expressed an interest in broadcasting live on the steel guitar channel on the internet. I will know more about that in a week or two. Dan

Well, maybe an option, if not too costly, would be to go ahead and record it, and then Doug can decide later on whether or not to release it, depending on how it turns out. Would be a shame if it turned out to be a really fabulous night, and it didn't get recorded! You can always discard a bad recording, but you can't get one back that you never took!

Jim has a point there.

Personally, I'm wouldn't miss this show for anything, but then again it's easy for me to say that since I live about a mile from the club....

Just got off the phone with Doug. The main concern about recording this gig would be RECORDING QUALITY. We would be talking bringing in a truck with sophisticated equipment and an experienced engineer. I won't stick my nose into this issue any further. Doug would be happy to talk with anyone who wants to pursue this idea. His phone number is 615-459-6711. I personally would love to see this happen, just don't have any idea where the funding would come from. Dan

Maybe the good Doctor and John Macy could get involved.

By the way, we are sorry if the change of date has messed up anyone's plans -- but the reasons for changing it were not arbitrary!

The problem is that the club is very busy and packed with diners on saturday nights. We changed it to sunday so that Doug could stretch out and relax and so out-of-town steelers would have place to sit after a long drive. Everyone involved decided that this would be a good idea.

We did not plan for the Sunday to begin with because the club is usually closed to diners and we were not confident that we could get any turnout, but we are now feeling better about that!

Hey, Frank. Of course, I mean from Doug's point of view, given the lack of prior rehearsal. From my own perspective, I'm sure it'll be an incredible night. In fact, I'm tryin' to think how I can get down there for this!

Dirk and I have decided to print tickets for the show and start selling them in advance. That way anyone who plans to drive in from out of town will be assured of getting in. The tickets are $7.00 per person and we will make approximately 150 tickets available. If you want to order tickets, e-mail me for the address. For each check received, your name, amount, and date received will be entered in a logbook and the tickets can be mailed to you or held by us for you. All proceeds will go directly to the musicians and advertising expenses.
Thanks for your support! Dan
