(OH & W. Virginia) Country band "The Smokin' Sect

LITTLE HOCKING, OH – Country Band, "The Smokin’ Section" and organizer Chuck Lipps of Little Hocking, Ohio will once again be the staff band for the Colgate Showdown Talent Shows.

This year marks the 28th year for the Annual Colgate Country Showdown. A talent show designed to find the most promising country talent and the opportunity to launch a professional career.

The Colgate Country Showdown begins in the spring with over 450 local talent contest sponsored by country music radio stations throughout the United States. Winners advance to their respective State competitions held at leading fairs and expositions. Acts then compete for a $1,000 prize, the State Title and the opportunity to advance to one of five Regional Finals. It’s the last step before the National Finals held in the Ryman Auditorium, Nashville, Tennessee competing for the Grand Prize of $100,000 and the National Title.

Smokin’ Section will be performing on: Friday, June 26, Fairmont, West Virginia, 6:00 PM; Saturday, July 4, Ripley, West Virginia, 2:00 PM; Wednesday, July 15, Mineral Wells, West Virginia, 6:00 PM;
Tuesday, August 4, Middlebourne, West Virginia, 7:00 PM; Friday, August 21, Parkersburg, West Virginia, 6:30 PM and Saturday, October 17, Marietta, Ohio, 6:00 PM.

Band members include – Keyboard player, Brian Harrington, East Liverpool, OH; steel guitar, Rick Troyer of the Hummingbird Music Studio, Sugarcreek, OH; on drums, Chuck Lipps, Little Hocking, OH; lead and acoustic guitars, Dave Queen, Parkersburg, West Virginia and on bass guitar, Dan Parsons, Washington, West Virginia.
