Some of the "newer Country stars" are trying to put some old fashioned sound in their Country music.

Billy Currington is one of them. Most of his songs I don't like but this one I DO like.

People are Crazy

The song in question is very good IMO.With Paul Franklin on steel guitar and Brent Mason on lead guitar............perfect.

It's easy listnin', to be sure. But I wouldn't really consider it "old fashioned" in any way. It sounds very contemporary to me. Winking

This is one of the new songs that I really like. I think it's pretty contemporary, but I do hear an older influence. It's not a big wall of distorted sound, everything is at the right levels.

As for Currington: Is it just me, or does he look like a young, scruffy Gene O'Neal?

He sorta' looks like pitcher Mark "The Bird" Fidrych in his prime - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DxFFYNgVeCo I was living in Detroit in the 70s and saw him with the Tigers pretty often. Mark unfortunately died recently in an accident.

I like it. Nice feel, relaxed, lots of space. Makes me want to hear more.

Thanks Dave, Billy does favor "The Bird"!
I agree too, the song and playing makes me want to hear more.
"People Are Crazy" reminds me of "Lord,I Hope This Day Is Good" by Don Williams.
It's one of those songs you want to sing along with.

I recommend "little bit of Everything" by Billy Currington
Alot of good material with Paul & Brent & David Smith is on Bass
Carson Chamberlain produced this CD, so you know it's gotta be pretty good! Smile

Yup, it sure does, now that you mention it. I'm a big Don Williams fan, probably why I like this too.
