Herb, I'm still in San Antonio and my project team would like to hear you play. Would you be so kind as to post your Jan/Feb dates in the Austin, SA area? I promise...we'll get to see you yet!

There will be other days filling in, I'm sure. Additionally, I'll be recording a new album in the middle of January, and having some gum (periodontal) surgery the first week of February. Plus a new Cornell album in the works. So I have a busy couple of months ahead... then in March it's South By Southwest and then the TSGA Jamboree. Sheesh!!!! Lemme outta here!!!!!!

Herb, that might have been just a tad more detail than some of us needed to know about your upcoming whereabouts, but if you'd like to list the address of the dental office...

FWIW, Herb--been there, done that a coupla times. I'm glad to say that it is far more painful in the wallet than the mouth.
With 8 visits a year to the periodontist for the last 8 years and, it would seem, for the rest of my life, I believe that I am putting his grandchildren thru college and making his boat payments.
But the surgery was a pleasantly untraumatic surprise.

I've heard Herb play (and he's super), but I've never seen him wriggle and squirm; I'm going to the dental appointment!

Bill, and Jimbeaux for that matter:

There's no guest list for the surgery, but I've instituted a high cover charge, for two reasons; first, the room is small, so its an intimate atmosphere, and second, the surgery is gonna cost about 6 grand (no insurance). So it'll cost you sadists three large each to witness the thing. And I will be under "conscious sedation," which sounds like an oxymoron to me, so I don't know how much squirming I'll be doing. The doctor said for me to take double dosages of Aleve for a day before the surgery, then 3 Halcion (read: Valium) the morning of the surgery... THEN they're gonna hit me up with the serious sh*t!

And as for post-op pain relievers... well, let's just say that if I were to tough it out and sell the prescriptions on the street, I'd probably get a couple of Bigsbys and another 64 Emmons with the proceeds!

Herb...my dentist has murals of fish on the ceiling of his treatment room, so when you are flat of your back and full of "laughing gas" they swim back and forth. The time altering effect of the gas makes you disappointed when the procedure is over. (If you believe that I've got a bridge for sale in ...etc..) www.genejones.com

Do any of Herb's bandleaders announce him as (fanfare please), 'the busiest steel guitarist in Texas'?

They should!

It may be an oxymoron, Herb, but I've played many gigs while in a state of "conscious sedation"!
