I'm not sure if this belongs here or in humor. I've been playing lap steel for about 8 years now. And I'm not too awfully bad, if I do say so. My Carter S10 C6 5+4 arrived on Friday. Being very anal, I waded through the DVD acouple of times. Then I read the manual a couple of times before putting it together. I could do all the lap steel stuff on those middle 8 strings right away. I didn't even find the slants to be so much of a big challenge. But finding the right pedals and levers and figuring out which foot to use and trying to get both feet working together.......oh, my! At least one pedal and one knee lever are a little out of tune. I haven't worked up the courage to try to tune them yet. I'm less than mechanical. And I think the pedal is what they refer to as a split. One thing at a time. _________________ Amor vincit omnia |

It looks like it's going to take me awhile to figure out what the pedals do and to coordinate my feet and knees. My first project is to find out what the pedals have to offer my current repertoire. I like the way, "After You've Gone," is coming along.
I've ordered C6 workshop and Right Hand Alpha from Jeffran. Next on the list is both volumes of Swingin' with C6. And I'm slogging through the Herby Wallace and Buddy Emmons offerings, too. _________________ Amor vincit omnia |

The first time is always a big and cool challenge !!! I'm in it for a couple of years myself and I still rememeber the first I just went through the open 10 strings and wondering What th h*** is that ??
After a while you end up figuring you can do lots of "listenable" things with just a few strings and then the time starts working for you.
