Hello,

I recently bought a Gibson BR9 guitar. This should come with a p90 pickup.

The guitar I got has a black pickup with silver poles. The poles are not adjustable.

I was under the impression that these guitars came with P90 pickups that have adjustable poles.

So, can you guys tell me if I have a guitar with a fake/replaced pickup?

Thanks

Victor

It depends on the year. I beleive the earliest ones were not adjustable. Just going on past memory, not too reliable.

The ones I have seen have non-adjustable pole pieces.

Also the spacing on these pickups is very wide 1/2" between poles I think which makes it very hard/expensive to replace

Early models had non-adjustable, later were adjustable, as were the P90s used on the early ES125, etc.

My BR9 is a '59 and it has a P90 with adjustable poles. The distance between poles (center to center) is 3/8" and 2 1/4 between outside centers.

just measured mine again...it is just under 1/2" spacing. 15/32 between the center of the poles

No idea of the age of this guitar...the serial is 1G1374 which doesnt seem to match anything on the web
