as most of you here already know , i have been making a racket on the steel for 6 years and for every day of those 6 years it would take about 2 sentences of music theory to confuse me ( hey give me a break i'll be 53 in a couple of months and it doesn't take much these days ) here on the forum i would ask some question and get an answer that might as well have been written in chinese, i just could not make sense of all the gobly goop and i think i finaly know why i could not make sense of it
it was because the answer many time's was on a 10th grade level and i was on the 2nd grade level
here is the answer to mine and i'm sure many others problem

MIKE PERLOWIN has written a book that starts at the kindergarden level and BUILDS to the collage level
of music theory , but there is a catch ( there always is haha ) you can NOT skip a section if you do your gonna get confused again
i promised Mike that i would dilagently study each section before going to the next and i'm going to keep my word. right now i'm eye ball deep in the 1st section but having looked over the rest of it i can tell all, that it is without question the best layed out book on music theory i have ever seen and have confidence this will give me a much better understanding
many here will differ as to when a new player should start learning music theory but regardless of when you decide to start learning theory i can promise the new player 2 things : (1) your going to get confused (2) your going to wish you had Mike"s book

i promise if your ready to learn theory you will be glad you got this book instead of trying to learn it in bits

get pen and paper ready and work thru it , don't think you can just read it and get it

It's also on Amazon. And I believe it you get the book, you can email Mike for an extra section explaining some steel-specific stuff that didn't make it into the "general population" book.
