I just got a nice Rickenbacker 208, one of their 1950s wood console guitars with 1 1/4 inch horseshoe pickups.

The bridge has notches worn into it where the strings rest. I'm thinking about sanding them out so the strings rest on top of the bridge. Any thoughts on this?

Also, the volume and tone control knobs are stripped. There's no set screw. Any ideas on this repair?

Thanks.

Thanks, Eddie.

I'll leave the bridges alone, at least until I'm sure there's a problem with the notches. Better safe than sorry.

Thanks again.
