List isn't very long is it. Too bad it's a Hawaiian steel guitar event, with no Hawaiians included. More or less the same folks at every event. Sure would be nice to see some new blood, especially Hawaiian.
10 years from now, all the old geezers, including me, will be gone, and no new blood to take up the cause. |

Here is one of the HSGA's major events in addition to the 3-day convention.
Sunday, May 3 at the
Ala Wai Clubhouse Ballroom
Performers:
Paul Kim, President HSGA
Steve Cheney
Bobby Ingano
Jeff Au Hoy
Greg Sardinha Trio
Lion Kobayashi
Alan Akaka, Past President HSGA
Jam Session
Closing: "Aloha 'Oe"
All of the foregoing players are professional Hawaiian steel guitar players. All of them are excellent and play professionally in Hawaii with the exception of Lion Kobayashi, who is a professional from Japan.
Aloha,
Don |

It is interesting to note that Japanese Hawaiian steel guitar players will make up one-half of the players to perform.
Bill, there are a few new players this year. Some of them are from Japan. A few players you have heard at Winchester and Joliet, but they are playing for the first time in HSGA Waikiki convention. That should be exciting for them.
Also, I would hope that the convention will in the future move toward a weekend event and then perhaps more local people will come. After all one must work and pay the bills.
Aloha,
Don |

I agree that a week end event would be a better time frame for everyone. Also that there maybe a daily fee for those who can only make one or two days. |
