I own an old LP of banjoist Eddie Shelton from 1976, named Expedition.
There is a amazing dobro player in this album. His name is Vince Gill. Is he the same Vince Gill we all know for its superb songs?

Yes that's him. I bought that record when it first came out. I had heard of Vince from a record called "Billy Perry's Bluegrass Jam" which had Vince on lead guitar and Jerry Douglas on dobro along with Ricky Skaggs and Bobby Clarke. They all looked like high school kids on the record cover. You can tell from the Eddie Shelton record that Vince had already absorbed a lot of Jerry's brand new style when most of us were still standing around stunned with our jaws hanging open.

Vince is ONE INCREDIBLE guitar player. He's also an incredibly TASTEFUL player, which is why you never hear him show off with super flashy playing on his albums. But he can really cut loose when he wants to.

I believe thats the album with Train 45 on it. Vince's dobro break was one of the hottest for the time.

I have a circa 1970 Dan Crary LP, purchased new.
You probably know Dan is a great guitar flat picker.

Vince Gill in listed in the credits as Dobro Player.
