For you Stringmaster owners, where do most of you set your pickup blender pot to on your Stringmasters?
At present, I like to run it first all the way to the front pickup (fuller sound) and then back it back about an 1/8 or 1/4 of a turn to blend in just a tad of the bridge pickup. I also run the master vol and tone wide open. I like this sound best and (hopefully) I still get some humbucking action going. I sure this will vary from guitar to guitar (and tuning to tuning). What are your settings?

I've never checked it out but it sounds ,to me, like the back pup is always on and the control just adds the front pup..JMHO..I run it full on all the time..So actualy, I don't really need the blender control..

I think you are correct, based on what my ears are telling me and what this wiring diagram shows:

tanks.

The P-U´s have reversed polarity,I think...if so,You
have a choice of single coil-sound PLUS the added bonus of blending the reversed coil in to obtain a
humbucking effect.McUtsi

I think your options are bridge single coil only or bridge with front pickup blended in up to full humbucking with both pickups on. I like it closer to both pickups on. You could change the positions of the two pickups and get a little bassier sound from the single coil only option.

All a matter of taste of course, but I usually like the back pickup with just a 1/8 or 1/4 turn worth of front pickup, depending on which of the three necks I'm on. They all sound a little different, due to the thickness I suppose. I find if I turn it full on to the neck pickup it sounds too muddy.

Here's where I might get my first ‘Flaming’ in several years, BUT; you can call it “muddy”. I call it “Cardboard”! You are correct, IMHO; you only need a touch of the neck P/U to put a little body to the tone! Probably slightly less than 1/4-turn!

I guess there are some people that rewire what pickup is the one that gets blended in. (i.e. neck always on and the bridge added in). The description for ebay item 320363758043 is an interesting read. I don't think I'd ever do this to a vintage guitar.
