Is there still good real Country Music being presented in Branson, Mo.? Will it be heading down the same road to extinction as the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville. If not, would this be the best place to relocate the Grand Ole Opry ? Is Branson still getting a lot of tourists who like real Country Music ? .

Just some thoughts, BT

We get over 7 million tourists each year and a lot of them seem to like real country music.
I think it would be a heck of a place for the Opry (we even have a vacant theater that would be absolutely perfect) but would the performers be willing to come here?

Do you want to start another war?, between the states, Tenn. & Mo. that is. When I was a Kid, That was the Roy A. Uncle Dave M. & Bill M. days. Up here in Wisconsin every Saturday Night from 8pm to Midnight, WSM's 50,000 watts of clear channel would come rollen our way. Now I don''t even watch on TV. Moving to Branson that will be the day.

I don't think it would matter where they moved the opry,She's almost gone,Sad to say there is only a few opry STARS left, when the ones left are gone the opry dies, simple as that.Remember the song [Who's gonna fill their shoes] NO ONE,Won't be long before the GRAND OLE OPRY will be just a part of American history. I guess looks like the new country is not as popular as radio and Nashville leads us to believe. I personally do not listen to todays sound. The Opry as far as I am concerned died a few years ago. I remember seeing a fiddle player one night on the televised portion wearing a mohawk haircut. I thought Roy Acuff would be cleaning house if he could see the Opry today. Another thing I get nothing from is the videos out today. Ninety nine percent of them do not make any sense. I guess those of us who like real country are a minority and Nashville does not care what we want to hear.

If Lawrence Welk's entourage still can pull in tourists, why can't Classic Country Music ? Even if the originals are phasing out, aren't there a lot of newbies that expound the old Classic style ? Good lyrics and melodies you can hum in your head.
