February 10, 2009. Johnny Kai, founder of the Hawaiian Music Awards, announced the winners in this year's contest in 29 categories. We are happy to announce that this year's winner for steel guitar went to Duke Kaleolani Ching. The Hawaiian instrumental CD is called "Hawaiian Steel Vol. 5". He will be heading to Hawaii this month to receive his award and attend the HSGA Honolulu convention. You can also see and hear Duke at the Aloha International Steel Guitar convention July 9, 10 and 11 in Winchester, IN. Congradulations Duke.
