For those that are into reading music and working hard. This was the great saxophonist ( John Coltrane's) secret weapon.

When I became aware of "the trane", it was the late 60's."My Favorite Things", was the 1st piece I heard, and my musical concepts were never the same again !!
I've heard ALL kinds of stories, of how he came to his visionary style.
where can I purchase this book ?
thanks
Rick

Yep, one definitive chop builder if there ever was one.
Any other SGF guys besides me have this & attempted some scales on any tuning?
(Amazon's got it.)

Great book. I did a lot of work with it for six-string guitar & mandolin. I'm still a noob on PSG, though. Not quite ready.

As I recall, Oliver Nelson's "Patterns for Improvisation" have a lot of the same exercises. Thinner book.
