Hey everyone,
I've just released a new CD with my band Elephant Island, called 'Don't Say You Don't Know What You Want'. I play pedal steel on half the tunes, and 6 string on the others, plus electric bass, backup vocals, recording, mixing and producing. (I guess an alternate title could be 'What I Did Last Summer...)

This is nowhere near country music, however, although the one steel solo is kind of country-ish (over a Motown-y groove). We call it 'indie-folk-pop', and it's more in the space occupied by Iron & Wine, Elliott Smith, Joao Gilberto and the Zombies.

There's plenty more (including song samples) and purchase info here:

Cool playing in a kind of pop context... though I have to say as far as the songs themselves I prefer the ones you have posted on your site from the previous album.

Nice, imaginative playing for sure!

Congrats Marc! You wore a lot of hats on this, and what little bit of playing I heard sounds good. Good for you. I know it's a labor of love. You started this last summer, right? How'd you get it done so soon? You must not have young kids! Smile

I ask because I'm in the midst of a project for our band wearing similar hats: pedal steel, drums, engineer, producer and I'm still months away from finishing! We started late last spring.

Good job. I dig the melotron (sp?) patch.

Thanks guys!
Brian, I was able, along with the singer/songwriter in the group, to take most of the summer off of work, and got the whole thing done in a total of about 240 hours over 6 weeks. And you're right, neither of us have kids!

I'm really loving the Mellotron too!

Sounds really nice, Marc! Do you guys ever make it down to California?

One of my bands is planning a short tour up to Seattle and back. I'd love to take it up to BC, but I am scared of the border with a van full of gear! If you come down, you should let me know.
