In the current issue - http://fretboardjournal.com/current_issue Jim Washburn delves expertly and with fine humour into the life and modern times of Deke Dickerson, and gives what is probably the most extensive expose of the young man's life that seems to be wholly dedicated to continuing the legacy of those that helped make Western swing, particularly those on the West coast, the viable musical force it once was, and perpetuating it into the future.
As a bonus, the final page in the magazine has the story of how Deke managed to acquire yet another incredible piece of America's musical history, Scotty Moore's #2 Echo-Sonic amp. Capped off with a priceless photo of the three, just prior to Deke taking the amp home.
Many of us know about Deke's love for guitars and steels, in particular, the odd (sometimes downright freaky) and not-so-famous brands, with some of his incredible 'working' collection being pictured, including Link Wray's infamous Danelectro 'Guitarlin'! But the artcle also shed's plenty of daylight on the 'inner Deke' that gives a fuller and well rounded appreciation for a guy that is living life as it should be lived in Southern California (with lot's of cool guitars!).

As always, the magazine is full of superb articles, including an essay on Clarence and Roland White.
