My latest is an acoustic steel guitar similar to the one in Roy Thompson's article in the Feb 1999 issue of Steel Guitar World Magazine

This is a no frills budget project and as a result I'll be making whatever I can. So far I've figured out how I'm going to make the resonator cone. On my wood lathe I turned a form for a 71/2 inch cone. The first one was out of .012 in. aluminum flashing I tried .008in material and it took 3 tries to get a cone with a real "tinny sound". I remade my form and turned another out of the .012 material and I'll probably be happy with that except that the finished version will be about 10.5 in diameter.

I've installed the cones in a scavenged speaker cage and tested them with a single string.

I'll post pics once I figure out how to do it on this site.

For those that may wonder why bother going to all the trouble my main reason is that I really like messing around with stuff like this almost as much as I like playing live music.
