All I play is Gospel steel. Rob McKeithen, Joe Arview and I are keeping the GSGA (Gospel Steel Guitar Association)show alive and are planning one soon. We are out there.

I play at the church I attend on Sunday mornings...when I get up enough nerve and recover from my last attempt  Hopefully the congeration will have forgotten my last performance!
I am sure there are other gospel players in the Houston area, I just haven't heard/met of any.

I play in the Praise band at Christian Life Church in Ausin, Tx. We play mostly contemporary Praise & Worship music, very little country, but the steel fits in pretty good. I use various effects to fit the song we're doing. If I played only country style, I would have been out of the band a long time ago.

Most of our group plays more than one instrument, and we've been doing rotation the last couple of months, so I've been playing guitar more than steel. I haven't played guitar much for the last 4 or 5 years, so it's taking me a while to get comfortable with it again, but it's made me work a little harder. I also play mandolin, bass, and synth guitar with the group when needed.

I don't think Scotty is a member but he is doing well doing sessions everyday, I still play a gospel tune once in a while I played for Gold City '84 and '85. Rabbit is driving lease buses for a better living!

I play steel in church on Sunday mornings but, I play dobro with my family singing group. I play sessions too. Eddie Trent plays on the Cookes and Cooke Brothers. I played on a Cookes session a couple of years ago but Eddie is one of the best. I wish I knew what he's forgot.

Well, I am not in the league with Scotty or Rabbit, but I play steel guitar in my band, Cross County Line. We do a gospel jubilee one Saturday per month March thru October and do Sunday PM concerts at churches whenever we can. I play steel most of the time but on some songs, I sing and play guitar

I played for 10 years in a Gospel group in So. Calf. in the 70's before moving back to Canada in the early 80's. Chief Mac Thomas introduced me to the group who was looking for a Steel player at the time, while he played in another group. Now I just play occasionaly at Church and Seniors homes in the area with tracks.

I've seen plenty of references to Gospel Steel every month. You should talk to Del Ray Grace. :)
