how are the different steel guitar pus in comparison to each other?

and what kind would one prefer for a late sho bud ldg, (has to fit of course, too) to produce a thick and warm tone without shrill or thin highs when its amplified with an all tube amp? (vibrosonic)

the stock sounds a bit to thin to my ears (especially with the super honest and non compressing vibrosonic)

any suggestions?

cheers
guido

Hi Guido, try this page for pickup comparison - the differences are pretty subtle:

jonathan,
thanks for this link!!
you're right and i'm surprised, that the differencs is that subtle!
i can slightly hear a difference from the humbuckers to the truetone! but, that's what i like best!
the next question will be, would this pu sound better than the stock single coil in my guitar? (mid 80's pot metal ldg)
and sounds like i described in my first thread??

You're not going to change much of the voice of that late model potmetal top finger shobud; but the best one I've put in was a truetone wound to 18,000 ohms.

Yes SIR; In a big way, it will help.
That is the very first thing that resonates when you set the string in motion...

Hello Ricky,
You are rather knowlegeable on Sho-Buds obviously. I got one for you. I have a Super-Pro D10 with what appear to be original pickups wound on both necks to 24K ohms. Sounds great and very hot pickups. I asked Dwane Marrs and he never heard of them. A Sho-Bud longtime dealer in Florida said Jimmy Webb was experimenting with 24K ohm pickups. I wouldn't give these up for a kings ransom. People can't believe the tone and it's not a heavy Curly Chalker fat tone. Just rich with great highs.. Appreciate your input on this.
Regards,
Wayne Wallett
