If it sounds anything like my Marshall head I'd try it.

John...I owned one recently and while I found it to be great for six string guitar, it was only adequite for steel. Also it is quite large, heavy and cumbersome to transport IMO. It was sold to a rock guitarist who is quite pleased with it.

John, I recently tried a valveking 212 combo, (not the head), found it ok in studio but not all that great on stage.Would asume it is same amp as the valveking head.

Fred, at volume it was not as clean as I would have liked it to be, but then again others may like that slight overdrive.

Malcom I'm sure you made adjustments to that power knob on the right rear of the amplifier? phred

Fred, I tried that, but only had a very short time with it ,as I had borrowed it from studio while my Nashville 400 was in for repair, and they needed it back. Will see if they will let me have it for a longer period so I can give it a good try. I have sent you an email.Regards Malcolm

Malcolm got the email and am only posting here because what I have to say about the VK may help someone else. That power knob on the back changes the bias on some elements in the VK. I screwed around with it until I could run a high volume playing outside venues without "scratching" the tone. It worked well for me, but it took some fiddlin' with it until I was satisfied. I don't think I would like the VK 112 because it simply won't move enough air. After thought: I had to break the speakers in just as I did the Nashville 112's I played.
