How do I run an extension cabinet from my Nashville 400 to a Peavey 112SX extension speaker cabinet using an 8 ohm Celestion G-12H-80 speaker.

Thanks Tommy

Adding an extension speaker at 8 ohms would reduce teh load on the amp to:

1/resistance total = 1/8 + 1/4
1/Rt = 3/8
Rt = 2.66 ohms

The N-400 is not rated for a load below 4 ohms!!!

You can change the N-400 internal speaker to an 8 ohm and then get a 4 ohm load with both cabinets.

The other route, use a power amp to drive the extension speaker fed from the Pre-amp out of the N-400. You would also need to eliminate any ground loop hum with one Hum-X (by Ebtech) on the power cord of the N-400 or the external power amp

Ohms in the case of speakers is a generalization of resistance for the coil of wire sitting in the magnetic field. Very few if any 8 ohm speakers actually read 8 ohms on a meter. The same is true with resistors they have a tolerance swing. And in both cases read different in a idle state verses a working state.
I don't know if anyone needed to know that but I'm bored today.
