I am currently reading a book called Classic Country by Charles K. Wolfe, and he mentioned this steeler's name in the chapter about the Carter Family. Seems he played on the Old Dominion Barn Dance in 1947, along with Maybelle and her daughters. Anyone know anything about him.

Yes, there was a thread about Slim Idaho, I think last year. You might search the archives for that.
Slim also played in Atlanta on the WSB Barn Dance, and made some records with either Curly Williams or Paul Howard, I forget which right now.
Slim was years ahead of other steel players with his technique. He played a lot of jazzy, fast single note runs.
He was killed in a motorcycle accident many years ago.
A few of us still fondly remember him.
