Saturday night I was watching the pre-race ceremonies for the Bud Shoot-Out at Daytona on TV,when I noticed dierks Bently performing. I saw his steel player playing a Jackson. Would any forumite know who was playing for Dierks?

That's Tim Sergent, he's been with Dierks for many years. Before that he played with Pam Tillis, Ricky Skaggs, and the Dixie Chicks at various times, among others; he's a great, great player (and a very nice guy...).
He inspired the recent banjo thread too though he deserves better!

Tim's been with Dierks since late 2005. Before Tim joined Dierks' band, Gary Morse had been playin' steel for Dierks. In late 2005, Gary left Dierks Bentley's band and is now on tour with Brooks & Dunn. After Gary left, Dierks and the band welcomed Tim, and Tim is currently on tour with Dierks as his road steel player. Both Tim and Gary played steel on Dierks' "Long Trip Alone" cd. And before Tim played a Jackson steel, he first played an Emmons, then switched to Mullen steels,(Royal Precision and G2) and he now plays a Jackson steel.
