Hello all,

I double on rhythm guitar (Taylor 310CE) and lap steel (Chandler Studio 6)in an amateur band playing in small venues and jam sessions. At age 69 I'm tired of lugging around two amps. Can anyone recommend an amp that would give reasonable sound for both guitars?

I've been considering a Vox Valvetronix or Nashville 112. I'm not sure, but think both of these are single channel amps so a mini splitter or AB switch would be necessary. Would either of these be appropriate?

Your recommendations are greatly appreciated.

Unless you play only ultraclean jazz, the NV112 is going to sound too sterile for guitar, and even for lap steel. It's designed as a one trick pony for very clean pedal steel. Peavey has other great amps for guitar, and many of them would also be good for lap steel.

The Valvetronix series has many great tones from very clean to gritty, crunchy, and full distortion; plus, it has a bunch of pretty good effects. They are extremely versatile amps. They may have only one channel, but you can switch between the different tones.

Would it be better to use something that also models an acoustic amp?

Look into a Peavey Vegas 400 - One of the best steel amps yet, and has 2 channels for what you want to do.
