This first official meeting of the MAPSGA (Mid-Atlantic Pedal Steel Guitar Association) was held in Fayetteville, NC on June 3. Jimmie Brown was elected president, Skip Mertz, secretary, and Bowie Martin, treasurer. The meeting was preceded and followed by an open picking session, with live vocalists, bass, rhythm, fiddle, and also using rhythm tracks. The all day session started at 10:30 am and concluded at 7 pm.. The next session will be August 12 in Fayetteville, NC at the Moose Lodge (an excellent facility). Future plans call for celebrity artists, seminars, etc.
Annual dues are $20.00 per year, which cover a monthly newsletter, and rental on the playing locations. Checks should be made payable to: MAPSGA, C/O Bowie Martin, 2002 Garrett Dr., Wilson, NC 27896

Hi Bowie my name is Sam White President of the Rhode Island Steel Guitar Association. Do you let out of State Steel players join you organization.We let out of State players join our assoc. and we send our quarterly news letter and give them a T-Shirt with a large steel on the back and a small steel on the left side in front plus free admission to the Steel Show Sept. 23rd 2001.My E-Mail is risteelguitar@aol.com E me and I'll get back to you.
