I know this topic has been discussed a number of times, but I didn't know if you guys knew that Microsoft's "Paint" program will do the conversion. Simply open the file in its native format in Paint then SAVE AS a JPG file.

And in the opposite manner, I have had some JPG files that would not open for some reason but I could open them in Paint.

Paint is a very basic graphics program and should not be confused with a modern graphics editor. It will not "optimize" your images when saving them and lacks many common tools used everyday to retouch images.

MY PC came with microsofts Picture It software. It's intuitive, easy to use to manipulate photos and it has a "save as" for email/web that reduced the resolution and size to something very easy to send /receive.
For those folks that are still on dial up it is critical to send smaller size pix.
