after being lucky enough (as a newbie) to be allowed to play at the Scandinavian Country Music Festival in Silkeborg, Denmark this weekend, I had the great surprise and pleasure to see our fellow forumite Chris Scruggs, playing with his mother, the wonderful Gail Davies later on that saturday evening.

Let me tell you that all of us watching from backstage were floored by Gail´s beautiful voice and most of all by Chris´ amazing performance on the steel:
Playing percussive stuff (groovy marimba like muted chords or high latin claves ) at one time, or fat Big Band voicings or traditional steel and even Pedal Steel lines in other songs, his energy and musicality was breathtaking!

In every moment his accompaniment was very intense and highly supportive and tasteful, and his solos were just jawdropping.
As you can see here, I´m still thrilled by this extraordinary gig and I just HAD to share this exitement with you...

If you ever get the chance, go see this guy play! It´ll change the way you look at playing the steel guitar
(it sure changed mine.)

Taking a lot of inspiration back home with me, I bow my head to this outstanding talent.

Thought I would bump this ...

I met Chris Scruggs last night who was playing with Carolyn Martin (unfortunately sick at home)... but her band at the Nashville Palace across from Opryland. Wow, Chris is great! Old Fender into a Deluxe Reverb and man, nice tone! Great Pickin.

I'm not sure but I think they play every Wednesday. Cover was $8.

Chris will soon be one of the best known great players in the world. His personality is even better than his great gift of music! A brilliant person in all respects. Smile
