I'm coming to San Antonio this weekend to celebrate my "will you still need me, will you still feed me" birthday with friends. Any country music with steel guitar happening in the area?

All the best,
John Vaughan

I don't think you're allowed to even live in San Antonio if you're not a good steel player!

Find out if Denny Mathis is playing anywhere - he's terrific, but there are a number of other fine players, too.

The company I work for does a lot of work for one of the Air Force bases down there. I go there for a few weeks at a time once in a while, and Roger is right, there is a lot of good music in SA. One of my trips was during Fiesta week, and I will tell you I had a ball on my off time, catching all the music in the streets. :D

Doesn't Bobby Flores and his band work in this area? I believe the great Randy Reinhart plays steel for him. If I was within a 100 mile of Bobby, I'd go see him.

I think Billy Mata with Rodger Edgington on steel works out of that area. Maybe someone will know where they are playing. They can get it done.

Roger-I talked to Denny not long ago and he told me he is not playing out much anymore and is kind of retiring. He's a killer player.

Chris- My daughter went to lackland AFB right out of high school. She went into the reserves and is a load master on C5 cargo planes. She has moved the Hubble telescope twice and has been all over the world, but has always been bassed here in San Antonio. She has been in over 22 years and is an E 8 and also schedules flights as a civilian. Her husband is also a C5 reservist loadmaster. The rest of the time they ranch and pick a little guitar.
