Almost Like Being In Love

Post by Herby Wallace »

Thanks guys for the comments. This song is from a DVD that I sell that was recorded at a steel guitar show in Grand Rapids, MI in 2002. The DVD is excellent quality as it was done by a local TV station using 5 cameras. If anyone is interested in this, I sell it for $19.95 through my shop.

Thanks,
Herby Wallace

Terry-Thanks for posting the YouTube Video of Herby Wallace, when he was in Grand Rapids back about 6 year ago. I was there and had a long talk with Herby. His set was Magic. I never heard any faster picking , playing all the right chords, and his excecution. His picking wasn't just "Standard Licks", he was playing the Melody even on the superfast stuff. Showing great knowledge of Music and Steel Guitar. Herby must be nearly at the top of the list .

That great guitar player on the left was our own Frank Rogers from the Muskegon, Michigan area. But for all who dont know, he is also a great Jazz Steel Player and has a lot of speed too. He has a Jazz CD out. Herby said he was inspired by the band backing him up, and showed it in his playing.

Thanks again for the Video, made me smile and made my day....al.:):) :D 8) 8)

Herby is one of the first steel players I ever heard in person. I was so fortunate to have been around the best from the start. Herby blew my mind when I was a kid and still just knocks me out 40 years later. Always the gentleman, one of my heroes, influences and mentors.

I have been a Herby Wallace fan since about 1972 when I first heard him live with Nat Stuckey. I had just started playing Steel and Herby's playing was a tremendous inspiration to me. One thing I will never forget is Herby playing 4 wheel drive as a "break tune", WOW! Of course, I had heard, and loved, the original by Buddy, but there was something absolutely "electric" about Herby's live version. I remember Herby's playing being flawless, tastefull, and technically perfect that night and as always, his personality and demeanor were "top drawer". As with most of the "greats", Herby is a superior player and a fine gentleman. Herby, thanks for the memories!

Hi Frank, good to see you on the Forum. I just tried your Web link and when I tried to hear one of your great solos, I was asked for a Password? What was that? Best Wishes...al.:):) 8)

Like Frank Rogers I met Herby on the road with Nat Stuckey in the early to mid 1970s. They were playing at a club in Hugo, Minnesota called Nashville North.
Herby's playing impressed me then and has continued to impress me through the years.
Herby is one of the very best steel guitar players I have ever heard.

I saw Herby in October. Fantastic! And here's something else I have learned. Anywhere where there's a couple of great steel players you'll find Bobby Caldwell or Roy Rosetta or both! Greg
