Hi all I have used a bagg para di for my dobro for sometime and would like to change to a jerry douglas aura.Has anyone used both and can you tell me how they compare as I haven't seen an Aura in Australia yet.

The Aura seems to be a modeling thingy. You can send your Aura to Fishman and get them to add a new sound to it (why can't you do that at home?). I don't care for that approach because it tries to take the hardware that reproduces the sound out of the equation.

I do like Fishman's Para DI. It's basically the same thing as the Baggs DI. I sold my Fishman DI because I use Fishman's Acoustic Blender (Crown M-200 mic plus bridge transducer) on my 6-string acoustics and really like it. I'm gonna stay with that until I hear something that sounds a lot better.

The current "Jerry Douglas" Aura imaging pedal for resonator guitar does not allow for additional mic images. Fishman and Jerry have locked into the 16 that come with the pedal.

I don't believe the original (large) Aura is still available.
