Spent New Year's Eve with the Jody Nix band with Junior Knight on Steel guitar. Doesn't get much better than that. Helluva' crowd, not an empty seat in the old Stampede building. The music was great and Junior's playing was exemplary. I believe the Nix brothers, Jody and Larry get better with each performance. Robert Weeks the 'other fiddler' in the group has to be rated as one of the best western swing bow draggers in the business. All that topped off with Dixie Hankins on drums and you have 5 musicians that can make the hair come up on your neck. And believe it or not, not one single loud argument in the hall. Jody hires bouncers that 'bounce'. Boy, they're big. Laughing

A good night with lots of swingin' folks. Let's do it again.

Junior is a players player. And Phred, having Dixie on drums doesn't hurt anything either. I grew up with her in Iowa and she was drumming in her dad's band when she was ten years old. he had one of the best bands around.

Craig, as everyone in the business is aware, the rhythm section in western swing is the very heart of the band. With Dixie drumming and Jody's brother, Larry, on bass it is a top notch band. Very tight, and can go with anyone when it comes to swing western style. I really enjoy listening to them.

My hero "JK" out doing what he does best, making that Rains sound soooooo fine as only he can. He's making us all proud. He and Gary are two of Texas finest IMHO.
