Just wanted to mention a reunion show that I get to do with my old friends (my first steel gig) Dusty Drapes & the Dusters. It's at the Boulder Theater in Boulder Colo. on Mar.23
I havn't played with these guys since 75, but I bet their chops are still up. There's gonna be another steel player besides myself....the great Lemuel Whitney Eisenwinter. It oughta be a blast! It's really their fault that I'm the honky tonk man I am today. |

Hi Rick,
Is Terry McClanahan going to be playing guitar? Eugene Smith on drums? Who was the fiddle player that had Yosemite Sam tattooed on his arm with the qoute "Born to raise tomatoes" under it? That was a fun band. I spent quite a few nights off sittin in with them when Terry and Brian Ercek were playing with them. Tell Dusty that Muttonhead says hello.

I will absolutely be there. The fiddle player was Teddy Carr I think. Will Roland be on Piano?

Yeah I think Teddy will be there. As far as the other guys, I'm not so sure. Dusty told me it's pretty much gonna be the band that was on their record deal plus a few others (like me & Eugene for instance)
We're gonna have a few rehearsals after we all get there, so maybe it won't sound like a total cluster****
But with 2 drummers and 2 steel players plus a horn section....who knows. See you there! |

John....yes, Barbeque Bob ( aka Don "Chew" DeBacker) & Fly McClard and a host of thousands of alter ego's are gonna be there. We all had a psuedonym or two. They named me "Delmar" after Del Mullin.....hope he didnt mind. He wouldnt join their band, so they bought me a steel, named me after him, & told me to learn on the bandstand...which is exactly what I did.
BTW, I used to play in a jazz band with Fly....a few years before DD & the D's called "Fly & the Zippers". Stan Getz's son Steve played drums. I knew Fly before his "facial hair patch" if you know what I'm talking about. He was way ahead of his time back then...ha!
I'm starting to get excited. It's gonna be interesting to see how many of them are still in recovery programs....
Tell Dick Meiss hi from me!

Hi Rick
I think Dick will try to be there...
The question is-did certain south american economies ever recover from those guys going into recovery?
