If anyone here lives in Austin, TX and is interested in taking lessons, I highly, highly recommend Mr. Neil Flanz (some of you surely know him personally)...

I've had 2 lessons in 2 weeks with him and can't begin to express how patient and knowledgeable he is, not only in the playing sense, but in explaining the whys, whens, hows, whats and wheres of the pedal steel.

I don't mean this to sound like some sort of an ad, but a genuine appreciation for the time he's spent with me, knocking down some of the beginner-frustration caused by this complex instrument.

Cheers to Neil!

Neil is a hero to many, including me. Here is Neil with Buddy Cage at the 2008 ISGC, and me in the middle trying to look all calm. :)

By the way, all in the photo are Canadian. :)

:D Way to go Jon, I'd love to get some lessons from Neil. It's a long ride on the bus unfortunately. :\

I've refered many guys to Neil; and everyone of them has called or emailed back a thank you for turning them onto Neil and what a great teacher and guy he is.
Neil Flanz is a tremendous inspiration for the steel guitar.
