Google provides free web space for beginners to the Web. It comes complete with some layout templates and is very easy to work with. You don't need to register a domain to use this service. You name your website and it becomes a sub-website on Google Sites.

Go to www.google.com/sites to learn more.

Once you get more familiar with how things work you will want to think about Registering a Domain Name and leasing commercial web hosting space. Most web hosts offer a free Domain name with each new account and shared hosting is relatively inexpensive, ranging from $5 to $10 a month, prepaid for one or more years.
