Just bought a Fender 8 String Steel and from other information in the forum I guess it is a Fender Deluxe.
I removed the tuner pan and inside there was a 6-58 which I suspect is June 1958, there is also what looks like a writing letter J. I would like to know if my assumptions are correct and if anyone knows the significance of the Letter J, how much should I value it on my instrument insurance?
Appreciate any info
Regards;
Don

I think there was a gal who worked at Fender who would date and initial the guitar during final assembly. |

The gal who wrote her name in my Dual Pro was Mary, who wrote in many guitars it seems. |

There was a Spanish gal whose first initial was J.(maybe Juanita) who also worked there, if I'm not mistaken.
Jody Carver would know for sure. |

For instrument insurance you should probably get an appraisal, which you can then use to support your claim if needed.
When I carried instrument insurance through Clarion I was required to submit a bill of sale for newer instruments or an appraisal for older ones, before they would write the insurance. |

Thanks gents, I guess it is a 58 and I will have to get an appraisal done for sure, as I did not pay a lot for the guitar, but I'm loving it and would try and replace it if destroyed or stollen |

Donald,
Your guitar is just like the one i have,same color.I got it new in Tampa FL about 1959 or 60,great sounding steel.I would say Ron is about right on the price 800-1000.I still play it as much or more then my D-10 Sho~Bud.
