I played the house stage at Billy Bob's this week and someone thought they needed all my picks and tuning tool more than I did (maybe they do) but when I came in tonight I went into a panic but ol Arty Passas was playing in the Kevin Fowler band and loaned me picks and a tuning tool. Then he went up went the Kevin Fowler band and they put on one of the best shows I have ever seen at Billy Bob's. They have added some new players and everyone of them can play their patooties off! Oh yes Arty, tell ol Kevin we appreciate him drawing that humongous crowd for us to play to. Great job up their tonight bud and thanks for the picks. |

Hey George, I hate to hear about the picks but will agree Arty is a pretty cool guy.
I played there with a band that opened for Kevin a couple of years ago and Arty came up up and introduced himself at the end of our set.
I've played many venues where we opened for national acts and he is the only road player that ever did that.
BTW- I'm playing Billy Bob's this coming week so hopefully no one takes my picks. |

Perhaps your favorite picks belong in a small leather pouch, in your pocket, between gigs.???

Dick I know you will do good, I hear a lot of good things about your playing. Chestnut was there tonight and I finally got a chance to hear Slim play and can that guy play. As fo r keeping the picks put away, that is good information. Mine were in a crown royal bag in my stool, but I don't keep a combination lock on it. |

Glad I was able to be there to do what any other fellow steel player would do.
That was a very unusual situation - you'd think stuff would be safe at least in your seat. And not to mention that they tweaked all your knobs on your amp too.
Darn kids!
Billy Bob's is always fun to play, and there was definitely a lot of energy that night.
Kevin's a great showman, writes clever catchy songs and gets the crowd into it singing along and having a good time.
Sorry I didn't make it over after the show, but I could hear you making that Star sing while I was tearing down.
And thanks to you and Dick for the kind words - it's always nice to see and hear you guys, wish it was more often. |
