Luthier Rich Mermer (great builder, nice guy) asks if anyone can ID this new lap steel of his:



My best guess is it's a homebuilt by a skilled craftsman from National parts/bodies or perhaps an employee-built guitar. Then again, I could easily be wrong. Thoughts?

I recall seeing a guitar like that in one of Tom Bradshaws magazines, can't remember what issue. I remember the angled headstocks.

I remember seeing that style somewhere as well. My best guess would be that it's a rare but factory-production steel.

Appears to be a National. Factory triple neck. Here's a double neck.

It's a Coppock Triple Deluxe, made by National.

Michael Lee Allen posted the catalog pic he sent to Tom Bradshaw's magazine in a previous thread...
