Anybody using a G# pulling to A on the B pedal on string 10 with a B on string 9 pulling to C# on pedal A.
I am using an E and a B but would like to try a G# but I need some parts for the pull so any comments appreciated.

I tried that on a 10 because I wanted to see if I would like a 12 Uni. I now have a 12, but keep my 10 strung like that, and it's totally valid.
The low G# (raised to A with the B pedal) makes a root for pedals-down, great for blues playing. Also great for when you just want a couple of notes lower... it works fine in regular country music as well.
Bonus: "B6" playing (keeping the E's lowered) is easier (no D string to trip over).
Also, on my copedant, I had the 6th string lower from G# to F#, and I put that on the 10th string G# too... great. Use that F# for a low root, and with the A pedal down (not the B pedal), you have (low to high) a root, 5th, 7th, root, also excellent for blues accompaniment.
PS... Get the D on string 9 by raising it on a lever, like a Uni. The D is right there on string 9, just like a standard E9. |

Dean, that is exactly what I thought. I am confused about string 6 though, is your string 7 not an F#?
I will have to get some parts for my Sho Bud to make the new pulls. |

I changed my LDG to this setup, works great. got the parts from Duane Marrs Music. Two rods and a bellcrank. About $25.00 I think.

Mark, that's a nice setup with the G# on string 10. When you have your E's lowered it really sounds nice to have that low G# in your grip. I've seen a player or two who lower the 10th G# to F# on the same knee lever that lowers the 6th string to F#....JH in Va.

| Making that change was one of the best things that ever happened to my playing. I'd always had the low E & B setup but never really used the E that much. Now that I look back on it I realize I didn't even use the B string nearly as much as I do now. Of course once I put that G# on there and experienced the difference I had to have the low E and am now playing 11 strings on a S 12. Its like I can finally finish all my sentences. |

Yes, 7 is F#, 6 is G#... with LKR I lower the G# to F#... same on string 10. |

All of my 10-stringers are tuned like the standard E9/B6, but minus the two bass strings. This also allows access to the A6th side of the E9th tuning using the standard E9th KL's. That's about all you'll ever need!!! I don't miss that dastardly #9 D string a bit...pull it in when I want it on a KL.
