My longtime pal, Don Burnham, who has more Lost Weekends than anyone I know short of Vance Terry, has just released a cool new new original - a waltz. It had been getting lots of local attention. In fact an Unnamed Local Famous Guy tried to snap up the rights to it. Don asked my advice, and I gave it, but since the guitar wouldn't fit he decided to instead release the crazy thing himself. You should check it out.
Even if you're not grabbed by a blazingly topical song about his personal descent into financial purgatory-- where "trickle down" economics really means "tinkled upon" to the schmos at the bottom-- even if that hilarity doesn't get you, something else will: The Dean of California steel guitar, Bobby Black. Paul Blake, who videotaped the session, gives Bobby some nice close-up time on a steel ride that-- well, watch it and judge for yourself.
The title of the tune is APPLE AND GOOGLE AND GOLD. The song has just been released on U-TUBE and GOOGLE-VIDEO. Check it out at:
