Guitar wiring question...

Hi!

I've got a Mexican Stratocaster that I'm going to have my way with.

I want to wire it with two Gibson mini-humbuckers (black plastic covers, weird?). I'm going to wire it with two volumes and a master tone pot with a telecaster three position selector. I think I'll be able to muddle my way through it. Someone told me that the hot/ground wires on fender pickups are opposite that of Gibson pickups? Does that make any sense?

Any tips would be appreciated.
