A Cajun Song with our own Daniel Cormier on Bass

Post by David Higginbotham »

Guys, this is a song that was recorded in 1972. It was a song that featured our own Daniel Cormier as a teenager playing bass and his Godfather, Larry Miller playing steel. My Dad, Darrell Higginbotham is the singer.

The accordion player was a 15 year old Pat Savant who actually sent a copy of the recording to the Beatles' George Harrison as a joke. The joke turned out to be on Pat because George Harrison sent a letter back asking for permission to release it on the "Apple Label" A few contracts later, it was infact released on the Apple Label. It was a big hit around here with the teenagers for dances and roller skating. The group, "The Sundown Playboys" and thier picture is featured in a book about the Beatles and the Apple Label.

The scenes on the video appear to be New Orleans area in the early 70's.

Enjoy!
