I'm just full of questions tonight.
I have a one year old (or so) very simple, inexpensive, Philco DVD (PVD 1000) single disk player.
I bought it mainly to use for practicing in my "steel" room. It's hooked up to my main stereo/TV system. It works very well with playing a CD; utilizing 2 Bose speakers and 2 other spaced-out speakers - anyway -
I recently signed-on with Netflix, and now I have to figure out how to hook this Philco up to the TV(I may have the original instruction manual around here somewhere, but it will be a major effort to locate it).
The back side of the unit has Audio (red/white) IN/OUT RCA receptacles.
There is also a black coaxial receptacle that says: Digital Audio Out.
Then there is a yellow RCA receptacle that says Video Out.
And finally another receptacle (black) that looks like 6-pin, and says: S-Video Out.
How do I do the hook-up?
The unit is very simple - looks like a pancake. But the backside receptacles got me again, cornfused.
Please help, one and all.
My 1st Netflix DVD arrived today. It's "The Best Of Prairie Home Companion".
I'm sure this DVD must have Buddy on it. I'm ready for viewing and listening.
Thanks everyone.

Chip, the easiest way would be to connect the red and white audio out from the back of the DVD player into audio in on the back of your TV and then the yellow video out from the DVD to video in on your TV. |

Thanks Andy,
But how would I still continue to hear a CD? Would I need a couple of those "Y" splitters.
This DVD player is now going into a Kenwood reciever. Everything I know of on this system, including a
Proscan VHS player, goes through the Kenwood.

"Y" splitters will certainly do the job Chip. If you don't have any other unused inputs in the back of the Kenwood you might also consider swappin the DVD player with the VHS player. In other words, plug the DVD player into the back of the kenwood and plug the VHS player into the back of the TV. The DVD player can probably be used to also play CD's |

Chip, you could just leave your red and white audio cables from your DVD player hooked to your Kenwood reciever and run the yellow video cable to your TV.
Then when you watch a DVD you can listen to through your Kenwood. If you turn on your DVD player first it'll be easier to find it on the tv because the DVD will show up on your tv screen when you luckily run across it switching to AUX or Video or whatever button you have on your TV remote. |
