I'm sitting at my computer watching the Time Jumpers on the Ernest Tubb record shop tonight. I'm hearing some fabulous twin picking by Paul and Andy, but for some reason the guitar and steel are not up enough in the mix. Typical sound man syndrome, I guess. It is still wonderful to see and hear such great talent on the net.

Hey Dan,
I listening to them on the Opry last night to. Andy needed to be up, Paul was up in the mix. The arrangments are so tight.
Unfortunately, I feel asleep and missed them on ET's.
I didn't know you could watch on the computer. How do you do that? |

Theresa, this must be something new. When you pull up ET record shop on line, it gives you the option of just listening to audio or watching video. Mr Sears even made a comment which included ".... and to all you folks watching on your computers....". It was great but it would be more fabulous if the sound people could get their act together.
Paul was featured a lot taking solo rides and doing the twin thing with Andy. They also featured Paul on Panhandle Rag.

Dan, I have not seen the video or know the situation for the recording, but if it was a feed from the mixing board, it reflects how loud they were in the room (the steel and guitar amps). If they were turned up enough so the soundman didn't have them in the "room" mix so much, that would be reflected in the broadcast feed. Sometimes they don't have the time, or gear, to make a separate feed for broadcast.
Just a possible reason why they sound down in the mix. |

Kenny Sears is a super nice guy, with a resume and credentials a mile long. Dawn is a super singer too. I really enjoy the country numbers they do. Western Swing is not my thing, but they're good at it. Kenny plays a Gene Horner fiddle, which is a brother to my 5 string fiddle. |
