Maverick Finger Breakage

A friend brought me a Maverick to repair. The fingers keep breaking at the pull rod (wire) connection. Is there a tried method of adding stops to the cross shafts? Or, another method to keep the raise stops from stressing the pulling fingers? I have some ideas, but want to find out if anyone has found a way to remedy this without major modification.
Thanks,
Dennis

Dennis,
My first guitar was a Maverick. Like you, I kept
breaking the pot metal fingers. They are just about
impossible to weld. I kept switching fingers untill
I was down to the last ones. I owned a machine shop
and fabrication business, so, I milled out a set out
of stainless steel, installed and never had another
problem. I always figured I was a pedal slamer is the
reason they kept breaking. Sounds like it was a common problem that was related to that guitar.
Hope this helps.

I used an aluminum angle bracket with slots cut in it to put pedal stops on the front apron near where the pedal rods connect- didn't take long and worked well.
