Well, after 12 years of having it, but not getting to use it much other than jams and the occasional gig once or twice a year, I finally found some guys who enjoy playing old-style country and honky-tonk as much as I do. The best part is I finally have a band where I can play the T8 and really work it a bit.

We're called "The Only Daddys" (after the Waylon tune). Yes, I realize that "daddies" is misspelled. We test marketed with friends, and they all liked the misspelled optics better. OK... Smile

Yee haaa!

Looks like the classic honky- tonk bible up front - that's the biggest one I've ever seen!

Back in the day of the "Honky Tonk Bible" book, we had to be able to play or fake just about every song in the book. There was no "I don't know that one". You had to play something that fit. Those books were very valuable. Someone had typed the words on each page. I've seen them sold for $500 back when a dollar wss worth a dollar !

Hey - thanks, guys. Yeah, that book of SG's is loaded with stuff, not all C&W, but a lot of it is. He plays a lot of solo gigs, and gets requests for a ton of different stuff in a variety of genres, so he just keeps adding material. I told him one day it will just go "POP!" and explode lyric pages all over the room.

My steel playing while standing on my left foot, working a Fender 'boo-wah' volume pedal, while holding a Tele, while trying to remember my words, while trying to remember which neck I'm on and what key I'm in, while trying to make sure my pointy boot hits the A/B/Y box (and not the tuner) needs some work, but it will get there eventually. Oh Well

After hearing this vid though, I know I'm gonna cut the treble back on the Deluxe, and boost the bass a bit for a bit 'beefier' tone. I really like the tone SG gets on his Tele with the Fralins (mine has Vintage Vibe CC's in it, but I still want a bit darker tone).

Here's a version of "Smoke That Cigarette" the guitar player, SG Wood just put up there yesterday.

If you click on his "sgwoodmusic" youtube user's link, there are a few more ("Busted," "Race Is On," "Six Pack To Go". We do our 'arrangements' on they fly, so they're a bit, ummm... loose. Smile

That looks like a gas! And to think the number-one complaint here is that steel players don't get to play enough anymore, and here you are getting worked half to death.

Drew - I know he and Rachel miss playing with YOU up there in 'the mitten,' too. Since Rachel is so busy teaching now, not too much opportunity save for once a month to play with Hummingbirds at a local cool cafe that does 'soul food Sundays' and live music.

This new outfit is more fun than I can remember having playing music. We're playing the 'Wounded Warrior' benefit pig roast at our local American Legion post 238 here in Safety Harbor, FL on Saturday, and it's gonna be a real gas! I just joined the Legion as S.A.L., too, so I'm excited about that, as well.

Todd, is that the Fender Volume and Tone Pedal that was reissued a few years ago? Volume up and down, Tone pivoting left to right and back? If that is the pedal, I really admire how you use it. Thanks for the posting of the vid.

Hey Karl -- Thank you! I appreciate that.

Smile

Actually, this pedal is a vintage one I bought from a gentleman on this board several years (10 or so) ago. Try as I might, I just can't seem to get the hang of using the tone knob on the guitar and use bar slams to get that effect, so I got this pedal. It could use a bit of a 'tune up,' but still keeps on going, though!

Happy steelin'
