Question is, is it playable, does it sound OK, or is it just a conversation piece :?:

One of the forumites built one and posted a clip with it a couple of years ago, it sounded very good. I believe his name is Joe Delarond. Sorry if I misspelled it, Joe.

That's actually pretty cool. Hey, if it's a choice between wheels and pedals under my guitar, I'll take wheels any day!

I've thought for years it would be great to turn a coffee table into a steel guitar. All it would need is a keyhead, a fretboard, a bridge and a pickup.

So, now I'm not just a "non-pedal" steel guitarist, I also have to explain to people that I'm a "non-wheel" steel guitarist as well! The list of nons is getting to long for this instrument we play!

I think the deck "plugs in" on top & locks into those metal sockets somehow.
It would ride really tall though...

I think this is in the same vein as those who've converted a toilet seat into a guitar. It's no longer expected to be used for its original function.
