Ralph Mooney wrote a couple of the COOLEST SONGS on Earth.

My Favorite is "Falling For You".

"Crazy Arms" comes to mind..

Many more too as I or others have time..

A few years ago in a local Tonk, between sets, some kid that was Drunker than ever stumbled up to my steel(Emmons LeGrande SKH) and bent over and put both hands on top of the neck and started making a regurgitating(sic) hiccup motion. Yeah you know what he was about to do. Luckily before I could get there my guitar player picked up his tele and swung it up in a back swing just like a baseball player and said "I wouldn't do it unless you want to lose your teeth buddy." The drunk went over to the trash can and threw up in there instead he was then immediatly arrested for P.I.

Moral: You know you have a good guitar player when he is willing to sacrifice his own telecaster for an Emmons.

I have it on good authority (me) that you can smack someone with a Tele and barely knock it out of tune. Like so many Tele related endeavors, it is all in the technique.

And he made it look so easy - the mark of a true artist.

If you watch closely, after the encounter it looks like Keef is adjusting his volume control...he's actually removing a chunk of the guy's ear from his tele.

When I was playing Steel Guitar on the road with BNA Recording Artist BB Watson we had a soundman named Buddy Jennings. Buddys dad was a guy named Waylon Jennings and Buddy told me once that when he was out with his dad that one night Waylon got a call about 4:00 in the morning and Ralph was in Jail and the Bus was in impound. Buddy went on to say that Ralph, who at the time was playing Steel Guitar with Waylon had a spare set of keys to the Bus door. They had played in Saint Louis and Ralph had taken one of the Busses and went over to East Saint Louis Il. To hear Buddy put it, "Ralph had a bunch of strippers on the Bus he'd picked up at a Club in East St Louis and was swerving all over all the lanes coming over the Mississippi River Bridge into Saint Louis Missouri". I asked Ralph about five years ago in Tulsa if he remembered that and he never fessed up to it. But...... knowing Buddy and Waylons bunch and everything that he told me they used to do, it was probably true. Ralph, you da man!!!
